Joseph Yiasemides

Software Engineer & Trainer, RabbitMQ Trust Store contributor (Erlang Solutions)

Joseph is a software engineer and trainer at Erlang Solutions. He builds and tests servers in Elixir and Erlang on projects involving JSON/HTTP APIs, TURN/STUN, AMQP, and XMPP.

Before moving to Elixir Joseph discovered OTP through his time working with Erlang. He wrote the initial Trust Store plugin, a TLS certificate whitelist, for Pivotal’s enterprise message broker RabbitMQ. In early 2017, along with a colleague, he initiated work on Erlang Solutions’ TURN/STUN server (written from scratch entirely in Elixir).

Invariants are everything (ADVANCED)

Property-Based Testing may well make it into the Elixir standard library. If and when it does, are we ready to make the most of it? In this introductory talk, we will concentrate on how Property-Based Testing expresses intent, how to conceive of properties and how this discipline helps to write correct software.

Motivate, propel and justify Property-Based Testing to the audience.

Expressive power on the BEAM

Documentation, pattern matching, and OTP are big things in Elixir. What about the humble _module_? We’ll talk about how to exploit arguably simpler constructs, like the _module_, to their fullest extent in everyday alchemy!

Give the audience insight into how to become  highly proficient Elixir users.
